New developments are emerging in the case of Miriam Carey, a woman who was shot by Capitol police after an alleged high speed chase. Results from Miriam’s autopsy were released by the family’s lawyer, Eric Sanders. Contrary to many earlier news reports that Miriam was under the influence, the autopsy did not reveal the presence of alcohol or drugs in her system. It was previously reported that Miriam was unarmed and now it is known that she was shot five times in the back which further indicates the unjustified nature of her death. According to Newsone, Miriam’s family is suing the US Secret Service Division and Capitol Police for $75 million.
